As we begin another school year and football season, I felt it necessary to write this letter to simply remind our loyal SHS fans a few things:
As per CPSB policy, each school in the parish is considered a "Drug and Alcohol Free Zone." As such students caught with drugs or alcohol face consequences to include suspensions and possible expulsion. The policy encompasses regular school hours and extracurricular activities. The policy is in effect as an ongoing effort to ensure our children's safety.
As adults it is our responsibility to be role models for our children. If our students are held to a certain standard and face the above mentioned consequences for their actions, it is only fair that we as adults adhere to those standards as well.
At SHS we are asking that fans adhere to "Drug and Alcohol Free Zone" by not bringing any alcoholic beverages onto the campus grounds. To help us, the uniformed police will assist in patrolling the premises inside and outside the stadium. Should you be caught with alcoholic beverages, in the original container or alternate containers such as cups, etc., you may be issued a citation or ticket and lose your privilege to attend any activities at SHS for the remainder of the year.
This is not being done to curtail our tailgating activities, but as an effort to make sure we follow CPSB policies and set a good example for our children.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Respectively,
Keith Bonin, SHS Principal
