Zydeco Simien

Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience performed at the Moss Bluff and Sulphur Regional libraries recently with their program, Creole for Kidz and the History of Zydeco. Children were able to jam with the band on rub boards and along the way gained a better knowledge of the roots of Zydeco music.

The Grammy Award winning group Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience have brought their considerable talent to the area and are performing at local libraries teaching children, as well as adults, the history of Zydeco music through song and interaction with the audience.

Simien’s program, Creole for Kidz & The History of Zydeco, exposes his young audience to Zydeco music by telling of its roots in Louisiana and by playing his accordion along with the rest of his band.

As he tosses beads to the audience, children are encouraged to take part in creating this unique sound by jamming with the band on the rub board with the goal of fostering a more culturally literate young performing arts patron.
