  • The City of Sulphur will hold its 100th year celebration March 13-16, 2014. In anticipation of the celebration, Sulphur Regional Library is hosting two Coffee and History events with the first one to be held from 10 a.m.-noon, January 24, in the library meeting room. The second event is scheduled for February 21.
Jan and Louis "Hawkeye" Hoffpauir, life-long Sulphur residents, will be in attendance at the coffee talks to lead discussions on Sulphur's history. The public is invited to bring old photos, memories and stories to share or just come and listen as attendees remember Sulphur's past and look forward to the city's future.
Currently on display in the lobby area of the library are three panels of photographs showing historical firsts in Sulphur's history. The beautiful City of Sulphur Centennial quilt is also currently on loan to the library for the public's enjoyment.
Special programs and story times for teens and children are also planned at the Sulphur and Maplewood libraries to celebrate this historic time in the city.
