For just the second time in program history and in as many years, the Sulphur Lady Tors beat traditional Division III powerhouse St. Louis at home on Tuesday 3-2.
The Lady Tors were nursing a 3-1 lead when St. Louis cut the lead to one in the 75th minute but were able to hold on for the win.
"I was so nervous at the end," Sulphur head coach Walter Oglesby said. "They were hammering on us.
"We had to play some good defense the whole game."
St. Louis scored less than a minute into the game but Sulphur is able to tie it up in the 15th minute off a goal by Kayla Sheridan assisted by Allie Lee.
Not much happened for the next 46 minutes until the Lady Tors took a 2-1 lead when Megan Bryson juked a defender and shot the ball past the goalkeeper for a 2-1 lead.
Sheridan gave Sulphur some breathing room with her second goal of the game in the 66th minute, this time on a corner kick by Lee.
The Lady Tors will wrap up the week on Friday with a road game at East Ascension who knocked them out of the first round of the Division I playoffs back in February.
