Fresh off claiming the championship of the Hackberry/Tarver Ford tournament, the Vinton Lions increased their win streak to four with a 70-53 win over Grand Lake on Tuesday.
After a close first half and a slim 27-23 halftime lead the Lions pulled away in the second half with 21 points in the third quarter and 22 in the fourth.
Anthone Hillery led Vinton's second half surge with nine of his team-high 17 points in the third quarter while Blake Trahan finished with 10 points.
Peyton Savoie led Grand Lake with a game high 21 points while Cavan Duhon finished with 13 points.
Despite a 24-11 lead after the first quarter, the Lions needed overtime to put away Northside Christian in the championship game of the Hackberry/Tarver Ford tournament on Saturday.
Vinton led by 15 points at halftime but Northside outscored them 39-24 in the second half to force overtime.
Antoine Budwine led Vinton (4-6) with a game-high 21 points while three other scored in double figures. Malik Prescott had 17 points and Anthone Hillery and Anfernee Dixon scored 11 apeice.
Tracy Wilridge led Northside (8-6) with 19 points with Nick Zanbrecher not far behind with 17.
Next up for the Lions will be a road game on Tuesday at Oberlin.
