  • A Sulphur man has been arrested in connection to the death of a 13 month-old baby boy.
According to a news release from Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson Kim Myers, Trent Dubroc, 24, boyfriend to the child's mother, allegedly removed the baby from a crib and threw the child across the room. He reportedly returned the baby to the crib and notified no one of the incident.
The CPSO was then notified Saturday, Sept. 28, by Child Protection Services in regards to the 13 month-old being brought to a local hospital by his caregiver because the child was in distress. The baby was found to have a skull fracture and was immediately transferred to a hospital in Baton Rouge. The baby was on life support at the Baton Rouge hospital until this morning when he was removed from it and pronounced dead.
Myers stated in the release that CPSO detectives worked the case throughout the weekend, interviewing family members and Dubroc, who allegedly told officials about the throwing incident.
A warrant for Dubroc's arrest was signed this morning. His bond was set at $1.5 million by Judge Michael Canaday.
Dubroc was already incarcerated as he was arrested Saturday on a bench warrant for failure to appear in court on September 20 on video voyeurism charges.
